Our coaching involves three essential qualities whereby a dynamic synergy is formed between our coaches and clients to achieve optimal results.
The first quality is the client’s intention and desire for growth and change. We ensure that before each engagement there is clarity about the goals and objectives of the coaching as well as alignment with the business’ strategy. We work with the leader and his/her manager to establish clear expectations that ensure the client is ready to engage in the coaching process.
The second quality is a combination of our coaching skills, intuition, and abilities. We have over twenty years coaching experience and have developed an approach to coaching that includes listening beyond what is being said, asking stimulating questions, respectfully challenging the status quo and giving tough feedback in a compassionate way that helps clients achieve the growth they and their manager are expecting.
The third quality is a synergy of the first two – a completely new space where the client gains access to answers that were there all along. It is through the coach and leader working together that generate new behaviors and solutions that lead to better results.
- Greater productivity, faster promotions, bigger profits
- Deeper learnings – about yourself, how you’re perceived, where you can improve
- Faster action – advancing things faster and with greater precision
- Space to hear your own voice – to talk something through and gain perspective
- Support and confidence to “lean in” and make bold moves
- The cold truth others won’t tell you
- Support for improving specific skills – communication, delegation, conflict management, team building, persuasion, etc.
Both coaching and counseling are similar in that they provide you with a helpful relationship with a person to support your wellness and growth. But there are differences between the two.
A simple way to think about it is:
Coaching is used to increase performance. That is, a leader is already performing a job well and wants support to reach greater heights. He/she already possesses strong skills and abilities in many areas, but wants to achieve goals in other areas of his/her job. An example is a leader who has excelled at managing a team, but needs to work on being more influential with colleagues.
Counseling takes place outside a business setting and is mainly used when things aren’t going well in a person’s life or when someone isn’t feeling like they are moving forward. Most of us have experienced times in our life where we felt confused or stuck. Counselors are trained to help clients get unstuck and back to a place where they are performing at a comfortable level.
